Post Mizuno MP 59 compared to MP 69 Irons
Mizuno MP 59 irons

The Mizuno MP 59 Irons is an evolution of the successful MP-58 model. With the Ti weight added to the MP-59, off-center strikes will benefit from even greater stability. The appearance of the MP-59s is also improved by reducing the offset as a result of this improved stability. Thanks to the help of Mizuno's Tour Staff, the Mizuno MP-59 irons now features a thinner top-line, a weightier sole and a new sole grind.

The flight comes in at a happy medium – high enough for control when hitting into greens, but low enough to drive through the wind. The consistency was also impressive. Make no mistake, the Mizuno MP 59 are firmly aimed at the accomplished player. However, there is an element of forgiveness that most solid low-handicap golfers would benefit from

Mizuno MP 69 irons

The Mizuno MP 69 Irons are targeted at Tour Players and low handicap amateurs. The MP-69 is a muscleback set, evolved from the Mizuno MP-68. The Mizuno MP-69 is a pure muscle-back with the same profile and offset as the MP-68. A new 4D muscle pad in the back of the club is more pronounced and locates weight strategically from 3-iron to pitching wedge. This means the shorter irons are designed to appear cleaner and more compact and have a higher centre of gravity for better trajectory control. The trailing edge of the sole features a bevel on it to allow for a cleaner exit from the turf.

The Mizuno MP 69, the next iconic Mizuno Muscle Back iron, was created by blending our PGA Tour Staff input with the latest state of the art design and simulation tools. This iron is the perfect balance of Grain Flow Forged feel and unmatched workability.

The only reason I didn't give it a higher mark is because between the MP-59 and MP 69 Irons, I would probably recommend the MP-59 to more golfers. The MP 59 Irons offers some workability AND forgiveness. I would love to see Mizuno sell a combo set of its MP-59 and MP-69 irons to give more mid level handicaps (like me!) the chance to play straight blades.
