strong and lighter Callaway Diablo Octane Driver Review

The callaway Diablo Octane Tour Driver features a slightly smaller 450cc head, a more traditional hosel that has less offset, and a one degree open face at address, which Callaway say is preferred by lower handicap players. To use it did not really look that open and the head shape was more of a subtle rounded triangle than the standard Diablo Octane Black The alignment dots on the face looked a bit like runway lights but we liked them and at launch the ball flew on a mid to low trajectory and that was with a 10.5 degree version.

The Callaway Diablo Octane Black Tour drivers mark the introduction of the revolutionary new material called Forged Composite. Forged Composite has been developed in conjunction with their Research and Development partner Automobili Lamborghini and is the lightest, strongest, most precise material that Callaway Golf has ever used. This has allowed the designers at Callaway to develop an advanced club head with a greater transfer of power at impact and more accurate trajectories than it's all-titanium predecessors.
The Forged Composite crown, which is one third the density of titanium, means that both the Centre of Gravity (CG) and Moment of Inertia (MOI) in the Diablo Octane Black Tour are precisely set for optimum launch and as it is lighter and more efficient the club head has been paired with a longer 45.5 inch shaft to increase club head speed and power for greater distance.
The Diablo Octane Black Tour models feature a slightly smaller head size than the Diablo Octane Black Driver, a full hosel, and the more open look at address preferred by skilled players. The drivers also benefit from Callaway’s proprietary Hyperbolic Face Technology to provide a larger sweet spot and improved impact efficiency adding an average distance of five yards to players’ drives.

Compared to the standard Octane Black the forged composite material is not visible on the crown of the Tour version, which we think is a shame. However the dark looks, heavier 70 gram shaft and better sound and feel mark this out as a very good better players club. The forgiveness was pretty good and the classic lines will appeal to lower handicappers. It's a contender for your money.
