WHEN THE HONEYMOON IS OVER ...
Since I am a novice business owner, I've decided to write about it and share my experiences and the lessons learned along the way. I am a ridiculously optimistic individual with the romantic notion that I too can be an entrepreneur and enjoy the wonderful empowerment that comes with being fully in charge of one’s own success. What’s more, my product is going to be something that speaks to other would-be entrepreneurs and advises them on how to start a business. Talk about gutzpa! Actually, I do know some stuff (a bit) and I know some people (a few) who can help me to get going. Nevertheless, you probably know better than I do that it takes some cojones to decide that you have something to offer that has value, and that it can be turned into a viable business.
So I’ve taken the plunge and here I am, a couple of months into setting up
BizStart™, the A-Z guide for small business owners. It’s going to be simple, easy, step-by-step stuff, with info about where to go for help if things start getting complicated, along with loads of contact details – accurate ones!
I am revelling in the start-up phase of BizStart – so much planning, so much potential, so much hope, so much adrenalin that I feel like superwoman sometimes. But the reality checks are starting to accumulate. Each day I have a stronger sense that this venture is taking the shape of an inverted triangle. I am busy putting the tiny little tip of it into place on the ground, but there is a looming great structure that needs to be built above me. If I am already stretched to my limit now, how on earth am I going to cope with the rest of this monolith? And if I don’t build it right, will it topple over and squash me out of existence?
It is my mission to find out what needs to be done (with a little help from SA Business Hub) to keep it all up in the air, and to share this info with my audience. So please join me on this journey. If you’re further ahead than I am I hope you will tell me where I am going wrong, and if you’re also new to entrepreneurship, then I want to hear what your concerns are. Let’s make
Diary of a BizStart about us – not just about me.
If there is any interest, I'll post my diary entries regularly in this forum.
