Game Improvement Design Mizuno MX 200 Irons Reviews
The 2009
Mizuno MX 200 Irons are one-piece forged irons with a deep cavity back enhanced by a reinforcement pad (dubbed Y-Tune technology) which extends the sweetspot 5% towards the toe of the club, which is the most common mis-hit area. The enhanced sweetspot makes mis-hits more forgiving and also promotes a more penetrating launch angle for more consistency, distance and control.
The award winning
MX-200 takes Grain Flow forged forgiveness a quantum leap forward with the introduction of Y-Tune performance.
A deep pocket cavity, milled to preserve MX-200's one piece feel is complemented by a Y shaped reinforcement pad, extending a five per cent larger sweet area into the toe - matching the miss-hit patterns of amateur golfers.
Enhanced solidity in the hitting area and an aggressive triple cut sole design ensures MX-200's place in the golf bags of both professionals and amateurs.
The triple cut sole has an aggressive camber for improved ball striking while the clubhead is grain flow forged from 1025E Pure Select mild carbon steel for solid feel and distance control.
You might think that iron champions Mizuno only make great clubs for better players. You'd be wrong - and this stellar performer demonstrates why.
In short, the MX-200 was the best on test in the hands of our team. And with good reason.
The test team loved the look of this new golf clubs set; its simple, yet doesn't appear hard to hit. An all round winner. It has a new 'Y Tuned pad' which, without getting too tied up in the technology, helps to reinforce the face of the iron and provides increased strength, power and great feel.
In fact, the guys had this pegged at full marks for these two categories. They were right up there too in terms of forgiveness and the dispersion was pretty tight too. The triple cut sole of the MX-200s helps to reduce drag through the turf, which in turn leads to cleaner, crisper iron shots. In a game improving iron, that' something to behold.
And, althought haven't talked much about sound in this test, there was little doubt that these produced a brilliantly powerful noise at impact. The other great thing about Mizuno irons is that they are sold as discount price at this golf shop, price lowered at $374 in steel and also in graphite.
