Post Rain a Presidents Cup golf concern
Happy week began, there have been many interesting thing, let me introduce the following the news about golf.
Rain is threatening to jeopardise the International team's bid for a long-awaited Presidents Cup golf victory over the United States.
Steady rain fell overnight and more is forecast for the weekend, softening the Royal Melbourne course - just what International team captain Greg Norman doesn't want.
Norman says Royal Melbourne, one of the classic golf courses of the world would normally favour his side, many of whom are familiar with its slick greens and the problems itposes in dry, hot and windy conditions.
But if the greens became soft, the advantage could swing to the Americans who are used to playing "target golf",golf clubs for sale flying the ball in high at the pin.
"If there's no wind and a little bit of moisture in the air and on the ground, the golf course is defenceless," Norman said.
Norman has five Australians in his 12-man team, all familiar with Royal Melbourne, along with South African Ernie Els who has won three tournaments on the course while Norman himself has a wealth of local knowledge.
In betting on the event, the Internationals are favourites at $1.85 with the US at $1.97.
Play begins on Thursday with five foursomes matches, ending on Sunday with 12 singles.
The only time the United States has lost the Presidents Cup in eight stagings was at Royal Melbourne in 1998.
