Taylormade R11 Irons designed to offer more feel and playabi
TaylorMade's latest expansion to the overwhelmingly popular
Taylormade R11 line was to create an iron set that was engineered for players who appreciate the shape and refinement of a tour-grade iron but need the help of technology to launch the ball high, straight, and long with less effort, regardless of handicap. The Taylormade R11 Irons are definitely not blades or a set of tour only clubs. Designed with more forgiveness in mind they appeal to a much larger audience. On the heels of Ping's big announcement for their new clubs for next season I'm sure was no coincidence.
The "Precision Weight Port" system (a plug similar to those found in Tour Preferred irons) is used in the R11 Irons to dial in desired head weights and swing weights, and to ensure each club's center of gravity is in line with the sweet spot. The fixed (red) plugs—2.5 to 17 grams—are made of aluminum, steel or tungsten and can not be adjusted by consumers.
Progressive CG location positions the CG low in the longer irons to make them easier to launch, and higher in the shorter irons. The
R11feature a wider soles in the longer irons to pull the CG lower for easier, higher launch while also increasing MOI to make them more stable and forgiving.
