Post TaylorMade R9 Driver Review
The R9 has a small metallic sleeve positioned over the tip of the shaft. The shaft is secured to the club head with a specially made bolt in the bottom of the club head.
The FCT bolt is designed to be retained in the well to eliminate the chance of losing it. At the bottom of the sleeve is a ring of small, gear like teeth, which tightly mesh with a second ring of matching teeth within the hosel. You can change the club head's characteristics (face angle, loft, lie) by loosening the FCT bolt, removing the shaft from the head, rotating the sleeve and shaft into a specified position, then locking them into that position within the head with the FCT bolt. The TaylorMade R9 driver uses the brand new Flight Control Technology (FCT) which allows the golfer to change the face angle, lie angle and loft of the R9 by using a simple wrench. Using a simple bolt positioned in the clubhead the R9 can be used in eight different positions and golfers can change position in seconds. This adaptability allows the R9 to promote shots which are higher, carry further and move right to left,TaylorMade R9 Supertri Driver which are lower, controlled and move left to right or which are neutral, mid height and straight.
The R9 Driver has been designed to reflect the very best of classic best golf clubs design mixed with the modernity for which TaylorMade are famed. The clubhead incorporated Ultra-Thin-Wall technology and the triangular shape promotes high MOI. Combined with the Inverted Cone Technology that has impressed across the TaylorMade range these development help make the R9 a club that leads the golfing world in technological advance but which is also incredible forgiving and easy to hit.
The R9 includes one 16-gram & two 1-gram changeable weights. This allows you to change the clubs center of gravity location to affect side-to-side flight by up to 35 yards. Put the heavy weight in the heel port to promote a draw, in the toe port to promote a fade, and in the middle port to promote a straight flight.
